About the Author

A native of Washington State, Terry was born and raised in Tacoma.  Soon after they were married, Terry and his wife, Heidi moved to Gig Harbor and have called that charming fishing village home for over 30 years.

Terry and Heidi built their first cruising boat, a Golden Gate 30, from a bare hull in their backyard and named her Cassiopeia.

After many seasons enjoying Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands and the Canadian Gulf Islands they were ready for a bigger adventure and warmer climates.

In 1992, with their 5 year old daughter Carly aboard,  the family set sail to Hawaii, Fanning Island, Bora Bora, Aitutaki in the Cook Islands, the Kingdom of Tonga, Fiji and American Samoa.

After completion of that amazing voyage, in 1994, they purchased, Cetus, a Fantasia 35, to give the family more living space for their next cruise.

They then set sail from Gig Harbor in 1998, and after spending a year in San Francisco Bay, they harbor hopped down the California coast, then on to Mexico and again across to the South Pacific, this time visiting the Marquesas, Tuamotus and Tahiti, magical places they'd missed on their first South Pacific cruise.

Leaving Gig Harbor again in May of 2009, Terry and Heidi (minus the now adult Carly who is happy to fly and visit them whenever possible) spent a wonderful couple months relaxing in the San Juan Islands before the trip down
the Pacific coast, with Mexico's Sea of Cortez as their destination.

Terry and Heidi have been exploring the Sea of Cortez for the past year and are continually fascinated by the beauty of the area.

Their plans are to leave the Sea for Mainland Mexico early 2011. There they will use Zihautanejo as a jumping off point for their voyage to the  Galapagos -- a dream of a lifetime.
